What's the difference between Coconut Water Kefir and Coconut Milk Kefir?

Coconut Water Kefir is light, sparkling, and refreshing – think probiotic tonic. Coconut Milk Kefir is creamy and tangy, similar in consistency to dairy kefir, perfect for smoothies or enjoying like yoghurt.

Are these products vegan?

Yes, both are 100% plant-based and suitable for vegans and anyone avoiding dairy.

Do they contain the same probiotics as milk kefir?

Both coconut kefirs are fermented using traditional water kefir grains, creating billions of beneficial bacteria. While the specific probiotic strains differ slightly from milk kefiR, both deliver powerful gut health benefits.

How do I use Coconut Milk Kefir?

Use it anywhere you'd use dairy kefir or yoghurt – blended into smoothies, poured over granola or muesli, mixed into overnight oats, or enjoyed straight from the glass. It's also excellent in salad dressings and dips.

What does Coconut Water Kefir taste like?

Is separation normal?

Yes! Coconut Milk Kefir may separate slightly – this is completely natural. Simply give it a gentle shake before use.

How should I store these products?

Keep refrigerated at all times. Coconut Water Kefir is best consumed within 4 weeks of receipt. Coconut Milk Kefir within 28 days for optimal freshness and probiotic activity.

Are these products suitable for people with nut allergies?

Coconuts are technically classified as drupes, not tree nuts. However, if you have concerns about coconut allergies, please consult your healthcare provider.

Step into the world of wild fermentation - where ancient fermenting traditions meet seasonal abundance.

In this hands-on three-hour workshop, you'll discover the art of crafting four distinctive wild ferments: golden Mead steeped in history, the effervescent magic of Ginger Bug sodas, elegant Rhubarb Champagne, and tropical Tepache. Working with seasonal produce and herbs harvested fresh from Acre of Roses' apothecary garden, you'll learn the techniques and confidence to continue your fermenting journey at home.

Do I need experience to attend? No! All workshops welcome complete beginners. We'll cover the fundamentals and give you everything you need to continue fermenting at home with confidence.

What if I have dietary restrictions? Please let us know when booking. Most workshops can accommodate vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free requirements. The rice fermentation workshops naturally accommodate most restrictions.

Can I bring a friend/partner? Absolutely! Each person needs their own booking, but workshops are wonderful shared experiences. Couples and friends are very welcome.

What's included in the workshop fee? Everything! All ingredients, equipment, take-home containers, ferments and cultures to take home, comprehensive recipe booklets, and ongoing email support after the workshop.

How many people per workshop? Maximum 12 participants for intimate, hands-on learning. You'll have plenty of time to ask questions and work directly with Sharon.

What should I bring? Just yourself, a jacket or layers (weather can be changeable), and enthusiasm! Optional: notebook for additional notes. We provide everything else.

What if I need to cancel?

  • Full refund if cancelled 14+ days before workshop
  • 50% refund if cancelled 7-13 days before
  • No refund for cancellations within 7 days
  • We'll notify you 7 days prior if workshop is cancelled due to low numbers

How do I get to the venues?

Do ferments need refrigeration on the drive home? No! Fresh ferments don't need refrigeration for several days, so you're fine if traveling or staying in the region. We'll provide guidance for each specific ferment.

Can I purchase gift certificates? Yes! Beautiful physical certificates are mailed to you or directly to your recipient. Perfect for Christmas giving. Order by December 20 for guaranteed Christmas delivery.

What if weather is bad? All workshops are under cover (Potting Shed at Acre of Roses, indoor space at Goodness Flour). We run workshops rain or shine!

Will there be more dates added? Yes. We add our workshop dates in two rounds - the next season will be in July - Dec and will be announced in April. 

Can I take photos during the workshop? Absolutely! We love seeing your workshop photos on Instagram. Please tag @thefermentary so we can share your fermentation journey.
