About your pouches
We send kefir in pouches rather than bottles because they're fresher, lighter, and far less wasteful. Your water kefir pouches are perfectly sized for running two separate batches — different fruit, syrups, herbs and spices. Here's what you can do with them:
- Drink as is — ready to pour and enjoy straight from the pouch
- OR for the Milk Kefir - extend into more — pour each pouch into a clean jar and add 500ml - 1 litre of milk. Leave on the bench overnight or in the fridge and you'll have 2 litres of fresh milk kefir per batch. You can do this a few times before the culture weakens - and by then? You'll have another pouch on the way.
- Freeze for later — all pouches freeze beautifully. We leave room at the top for exactly this reason. The cultures survive freezing very well and come back strong
- Second ferment your water kefir — pour into a clean jar or bottle, add fresh or dried fruit, herbs, or a splash of syrup and leave at room temperature for 12–24 hours. It will fizz gently and take on gorgeous flavour. Refrigerate and enjoy
- For Water Kefir - run two batches at once — your two pouches mean two batches running simultaneously, to have different flavours at hand
