Water Kefir SCOBY

There is a history of sharing these cultures - kind of like storytelling.

It feels better to give them away as they aren't the kind of thing that should be out in the world 'for sale'. Initially, we gave them freely, but that encouraged people to take too many, and they'd have too many to care for. And so now, we think of ourselves as custodians of these cultures, and you are paying for that - and the privilege to take care of some yourself.

We care for our water kefir grains with Daylesford springwater organic raw sugar, organic dates and blackstrap molasses. These grains are part of our own homemade water kefir recipe right up until the moment they are pulled from the vat to be packaged for you - ready-to-ferment kefir that tastes incredible and works wonders for your gut health and immunity.

Fresh:

We send a quarter cup - enough to start a 2-litre probiotic ferment - with complete instructions for your scoby and first batch. It would be best if you began to your brew as soon as you can. If all goes well, you will have a brew ready within 3 days of receiving them.

Dehydrated:

No matter where you are, we can send these to you. Water Kefir grains do so well with dehydration and can stay stashed away in a drawer until you're ready, making them a perfect present. When you are ready to use them, it will take a few days, maybe even a week, to wake them up.

Our grains are rich in healthy bacteria and come with a kefir water recipe. We also have a water kefir recipe on our site so you can prepare your grains. In our opinion, get the book to go with the grains for an even better present.

Each delivery contains 20g of dried grains - The Fermentary's own brewed kefir SCOBY, pulled straight from the vat and dehydrated- and an illustrated recipe card by Lyndsey Knight.

We securely ship all SCOBYs, live cultures, and refrigerated items via express post every Monday and Tuesday for a flat fee of $7.50.

In the rare event that any item purchased from our online store arrives faulty, we are committed to providing a prompt replacement or full refund.
